So happy to learn more about felting. I didn’t know yurts were made of felt! Fascinating how historians surmised that felt was discovered—haha. Agree that nothing beats good old fashioned wool for warmth and moisture wicking.
Your nuno felted panels are stunning!! Impressed by that intimidating installation.
Are you a talented artist, or what? And your writing is terrific. I look forward to these posts, as each is a story journey with beautiful art. Thank you for sharing. 👍
Whenever I'm making a video of one of my pieces, I'm always worried that it's going too slowly. I actually uploaded, worried that it was too long, and then went back and made it a little shorter! You've given me confidence for taking my time when I make another video! xo
A giant felting machine must be quite something to operate! It is a beautiful piece, cleverly mounted too. I appreciate the contrast of the frame and the felt. I live in the pacific northwest where river otters hang out in the sea! They are often on the beach as well as wetlands. Very lucky...
Also it is so cool that you saw river otters! I have never seen otters in the wild (only in an acquarium or on video). They are so much fun to watch. They seem so smart and playful. You got quite a clear video of them!
I loved seeing your beautiful felted wool piece that you mounted in a cabinet door. That must have been scary to worry about damaging the piece as you mounted it!
Yes, as a mixed media artist, I'm constantly needing to learn different ways to attach things to each other, so I'm often doing things for the first time! It makes for some hemming and hawing before I take the plunge, especially when I get emotionally invested in the oiece I'm making!

Also… river otters. What a joyful omen…!
Thank you Nyla! And I like thinking of the river otter sighting as a good omen. The one who was eating her fish watched me back the entire time...

Wow, thank you Terry! What a wonderful comment to wake up to! <3
Oh, I wish you've have panned more slowly over that luscious piece of felt art. I wanted to examine it, inch by beautiful inch.
Oh thank you Paula!! <3 You just made my day!

Thank you Nancy!
And wow, I'd love to see the otters roaming around on the beach or wetlands. I had no idea river otters would go into sea water!

I can imagine!
I had no idea that yurts were made from felted wool! And you are so right that synthetic fabrics have not improved on what wool can do. :)
