I love this! I chose black and yellow. To me, the black represents death. Death of our democracy, our way of life, death of morality and empathy. I could go on. I also prefer black over blue because blue often represents democrats. Black might feel inclusive to all persuasions who know what is happening is wrong AND dangerous. Yellow could represent caution. It might also represent light and hope. ❤️
Sarah, I love that you brought back the flag design, which I discovered just a few years ago. I prefer black and yellow because it matches the alarm I feel about these times.
It's a great sign. To me, the black with yellow definitely feels right for the moment, and what a moment in history this is. I'll be in Taos for the protest on Saturday. Let me know if you're going to be here. I'll look for your sign! I've got one saying "Stand Up, Speak Out, Silence is Complicity.
Thanks Lydia--and you are so right about this moment in history boy. I'm torn between protesting here or in Santa Fe, but I'll let you know! And love your excellent sign slogan as well! Power to the people!
I absolutely love and appreciate what you’re doing. We all need to stand up now and raise our voices in protest at this incredibly critical time. I’m sure that June 14 will be significant. I will definitely be there.
Thank you and right on Roberta! I may go down to Santa Fe this time--not sure though. On April 4, I went to the one in SF--part of me is curious to see if it will be bigger this time....
I did consider that, but thought it looked like football team colors. Probably my upbringing that made me think that though. I will ponder that option again!
I appreciate this post and the way you’re directing your creativity towards positive change. I love the black and yellow for its sense of urgency and alarm.
And there are now over 2000 protests on that map--locally organized in big and small towns and cities across America. If you click on that link I put in the top of my post, you can see which ones are near you and if you sign up for one in particular, you'll get email updates and an explanation about what that group is planning, something I find helpful. In April, when I signed up to go to Santa Fe for the Hands Off! protest, I even wrote back for parking advice--and got it! Here's to freedom!
Thank you, Sarah, for rising up, and for doing so with your inimitable artistry and big heart ❤️ I am in Canada, but I will be sending rising up vibes to you. Thanks to everyone who will be taking a stand.
I voted for the black and yellow as being more effective, even though esthetically I prefer the blue and white. I do find the black and yellow kind of aggressive, in a way that I am slightly uncomfortable with, but as others have commented, I think it conveys URGENT in a way that is appropriate for these times.
Sarah, I love your passion and dedication to democracy, artistic expression, and community! I voted but really both stand out and will have an impact. Be safe and voiceful!
Susie has good points, I didn't think of the blue representing dems.... to me blue is more cheerful than black, when I write with a black pen it feels more somber than writing with a blue pen.
Ah thank you Jill. I agree that the blue is more approachable than the black. I'm curious--does the somberness of the black and yellow feel a little off-putting or less "rally-ing" to you? (Maybe not the right words, but just curious about hearing more about your feelings about the somberness...)

Wow Susie--I love this interpretation! Thank you for articulating it so beautifully!

Thank you Nancy--and I really appreciate hearing the specific reasons people prefer one over the other!

Now I wish I had written "Rise Up, Speak out... But it's already made, and all the messages being different catches more attention!
Yes Yes--different words resonate with different people! "Stand Up" is still excellent!
Lydia I love your message for the No Kings protest on Saturday!
The black and yellow color combination is so powerful! Beautifully done.
Thank you Amy!

I would like Blue and Yellow because the yellow really stands out, and some people don't like black.
I did consider that, but thought it looked like football team colors. Probably my upbringing that made me think that though. I will ponder that option again!

Thank you Tina! I lean toward the black and yellow myself as well, for the same reasons!
Wow Sarah, I watched your video, powerful. Admirable artistic activism.
I voted black and yellow. A fierce message, inclusive. The blue is nice but I immediately associated it with blue baseball caps. I don’t know why,
Super informative post. I’m near San Francisco and would love to Rise Up.
Thx for leading!
Yay--thank you Prajna!

Ah interesting dichotomy there--thank you for letting me know that Laura!
I also like the yellow and black as I think it is a stronger message visually.
Thanks Cindy! 💪

Thanks for voting and thanks for the good vibes Janine!

The black and yellow seems more somber also.

Yeah, less like want to be involved with it cuz it might be...HEEEEEAAVY
So interesting--thank you for sharing that Jill!
Black and yellow for sure, more dramatic, more gripping. The blue and white is beautiful, but more subtle, not really the vibe of the moment.
Thank you Eliza--I agree that the black and yellow feels more dramatic and gripping. So appreciate your comment!
